El Gamma Penumbra, Philippines’s shadow play group, is no doubt a world-class act and will surely launch a global career after winning  Asia’s Got Talent competition last night, May 14, 2015, in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

One of the finalists in Pilipinas Got Talent Season 3, which was won by the singing group Maasinhon Trio, El Gamma Penumbra found their long-due triumph in front of a bigger crowd in Asia’s Got Talent, the first ever Asian talent search. El Gamma bagged the crown after topping the Asian-wide voting, and they took home the prize money of $100,000 and a chance to perform in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

El Gamma Penumbra is made up of thirteen members from Tanauan, Batangas, a lucky number for the group according to one of the judges, David Foster.

Their winning performance during the semifinals, as shown in the video above, raised awareness about social and environmental concerns. The group showed a heart-clenching story of war victims, bringing the message of peace and love. The group earned a golden buzzer from the judges that brought them straight to the grand finals.

Before they got the express pass to the finals, the group also earned a golden buzzer after their impressive performance during the auditions. Check out their eye-popping performances through the videos below.

Prior to the announcement of the winners, the team thanked their supporters and all Filipinos around the world who voted for them and called themselves as winners for being able to perform under the international spotlight. They further expressed their gratitude to the Creator for their wonderful talent and to the judges of the show.

After the show, the judges extended their commendation to the winning group. Singer and producer Foster applauded El Gamma Penumbra for creating heart-warming stories in just two minutes. Indonesian rock icon Anggun said their performance makes people want to see them every time they take the stage, while Taiwan-based American singer Van Ness Wu further noted that their dramatic and energetic performance is what makes them champions.

Philippines’s Star for All Seasons who is also the governor of the hometown of most of the members of the group, Vilma Santos, extended her congratulatory message to the group and called them the pride of Batangas on whose grounds El Gamma always performs at during their Voices, Songs, and Rhythm event.

Aside from El Gamma Penumbra, three other Filipino acts were also part of the grand finals: opera singer and second runner-up Gerphil Flores, hip-hop dance crew Junior New System, and ten-year-old rocker Gwyneth Dorado.
