Steve Harvey Left Awestruck by Elha Nympha on ‘Little Big Shots’
“One of the great young voices in the world”—that’s how host Steve Harvey introduced Elha Nympha on Little Big Shots, where the young Filipino singer belted out Sia‘s “Chandelier.”
NBC’s Little Big Shots, which is currently on its second season, is hosted by Steve Harvey. The American variety TV show usually features talented and extraordinary kids from around the world with viral videos that took the online community by storm.
Harvey interviews and brings to light the little tykes’ talents, be it singing, dancing, sports, academic, or anything impressive. And on its premiere episode last Monday, March 6 (Philippine time), the show featured the 12-year-old singing sensation Elha Nympha.

Elha’s performance on the show was uploaded online several days before the show aired as a teaser, but her interview with the host was shown during the pilot episode of the show.
She introduced herself and told her story to the audience, how she had to sell banana cue after her father died to help her mother support her schooling and put food on the table.
“My father passed away and then I started selling banana cue to have money to study, to eat food,” Ella shared.
Steve asked her if he’s popular in her country, to which she replied, “Yes, you are popular in my country!”
In between interview, Elha Nympha also showed off her voice-belting capability by singing parts of Mariah Carey‘s and Ariana Grande‘s songs. And when she finally sang fully at the show, Ella wowed the audience with her rendition of Sia’s “Chandelier.” After her performance, Harvey said, “Now she’s sitting down, like it ain’t nothing to her!”
Meanwhile, Steve was seen as if astounded and even seen throwing a fist in the air as Nymph perfectly hit a high note toward the end of her performance. And Steve tweeted after, “Everyone on the set was blown away by Elha, she got a standing ovation! This is why I love this show.”
Elha Nympha has been singing since she was 3 years old, according to her mother. Prior to her appearance in the Little Big Shots, Elha auditioned for The Voice Kids Philippines twice. Her first attempt was unsuccessful. But the following year, she was finally named grand champion. She also guest-performed at the grand finals of The Voice Kids Indonesia.
According to her interview on Magandang Buhay, Ella did not audition for Steve Harvey’s show. Apparently, the people behind the Little Big Shots saw her performances on The Voice Kids Philippines and were impressed. They contacted her via her music label and flew to the United States on June last year and stayed there for three weeks. She was with her mother and several of her relatives.
She hopes that her short stint at the Little Big Shots will pave way for greater opportunity for her singing career. She dreams to be able to perform in different countries around the world. In her interview with The Inquirer, she hinted that she wishes to be a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show just like other fellow Filipino singers like Charice Pempengco, Arnel Pineda, Maria Aragon, and more, who got invited to the show to showcase their talent. Although it did not do much to boost their respective singing career, it somehow gave them the exposure they needed to jump-start their career.
Elha is a recording artist under MCA Music Inc. as part of her contract after being declared The Voice Kids Philippines Season 2 grand champion. Her self-titled debut album was released last year. She’s currently busy working on her second album, practically juggling her time between her singing career and studies. She’s also presently one of the contenders in ABS-CBN network’s Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids show.
Steve Harvey, aside from being the host of the Little Big Shots show, is also the show’s co-producer with TV host Ellen DeGeneres. In the pilot episode of the show, Elha Nympha was also joined by other equally talented little big shots from other parts of the world: Lucy, the 5-year-old girl Abraham Lincoln fan from Pleasanton, California, who can recite the Gettysburg Address; Mason, a 6-year-old science prodigy; Caleb, a 4-year-old worship leader; and Brielle, a 4-year-old anatomy expert.
