Filipinos Who Have Performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show
Ellen DeGeneres sure has an eye on talents, and she never fails to recognize every skill she comes across with, in person or over the Internet. DeGeneres acknowledges the world-class talent of Filipinos as she paved way for Filipino artists and performers to show off their talents to the international audience through her show.
Check out these personalities who were given the chance to perform in The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
International singer Charice Pempenco was called the most talented girl in the world by Oprah Winfrey. She appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on December 19, 2007, where sang Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and Jennifer Holiday’s “And I Am Telling You.”
Arnel Pineda is the lead singer of the American rock band Journey. He made an appearance in the show in 2009 together with his band members and sang “Finally” live.
Rhap Salazar won the Best Performance by a New Male Recording Artist award during the 2010 Awit Awards in the country. He also won international awards in the 13th World Championships of Performing Arts. Rhap made an appearance in the show and sang the song “All by Myself” on November 2009.
Zendee Rose Tenerefe
Zendee Rose Tenerefe was seen singing “And I Am Telling You” inside the mall using a videoke machine. A stranger took a video of her performance and uploaded it in YouTube calling her “random girl.”
Ellen DeGeneres saw her video on YouTube and invited her to the show on September 2, 2013.
Aldrich Lloyd Talonding and James Walter Bucong
Aldrich and James are cousins whose cover of Luther Vandross’s song “Dance with My Father” earned over four million hits in YouTube. DeGeneres called them over to her show, and during their appearance, they received a standing ovation from the crowd, among them was fellow Filipino, actor Aga Muhlach.
Local actor John Prats got the international spotlight after he danced in the show. He was one of the audience in the show together with his fiancee, Isabel Oli, when he was given the chance to step on the stage to show off his talent.
Maria Lourdes Aragon’s YouTube video of her cover of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” cover went viral and caught the attention of Ellen DeGeneres.
Maria appeared in the show on February 21, 2011, where she sang and played piano to the tune of the same song that made her rose to fame.
Mindy did not come on stage to sing, dance, or perform stunts. She was there to give her personal views on Hollywood entertainment scenes.
Mindy has a regular segment in the show in 2011 called “Mindy’s Reality Roundup” where she discussed about American reality TV shows. Mindy is Ellen’s housekeeper whose humor prompted the host to land her a huge job in her show.
Four-year-old Kai, a Filipino with Czech descent, appeared in Ellen’s show twice. His hilarious “Grenade” cover by Bruno Mars in YouTube was overloaded with so much cuteness that Ellen could not resist but to have him guest on the show over again.
Andre Camille Bonifacio and Ryan Ancheta
The latest Filipino discovery who performed in The Ellen DeGeneres Show were the hip-hop duo who call themselves the Lucky Aces.
They danced to the tune of DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What” in April this year in the show, and it also gave birth to their chance to have a guest performance on Ariana Grande’s The Honeymoon Tour in Canada.
This is why everybody loves the show: it does not only entertain the viewer, but it also holds the Rock of Gibraltar that allows local talents to show what they got in the international spotlight.Filipinos Who Have Performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show by Holly Bissonnette
